OMG, you gotta be kidding me! You see, some five-ish years ago, I had a dream of a tower exactly llike that! AND there was also a river running at the bottom of that tower as well. I mean, weirdo?! xD
Nice color usage, hanyways. For a first try, I'd say nice job.

I couldn't say that I'm any expert myself, but I've had tutoring in watercolor painting, so feel free to ask me anything. But the most important thing, anyway, are good brushes! You get absolutely nothing but devastation done with the Dollar General quality. o.o

And layering!!! Watercolor is all about layering! If you check my work [link] Dozing Green out once more, you can study that (and by browsing "paintings" on the traditional section, millions of better watercolors ) I have used layering a lot. And that's the point. You shouldn't go dark on the first layer of watercolors, but to wash in your light colors, and then start building up the strength, volume, deepness, and tones of the coloring. In this one, I notice that you first did your light layers, mixed some darker color, and did the dark areas without extra layers. But please remember that a watercolor painting NEVER has too many layers! The more the layers used, the more gradually you build up your darker shades. And the more gradually you build up your darker shades, the more natural and beautiful-looking the work is.
OK, Dozing Green might not be the best possible example 'cause I used mixed media and washes that blend with the colored pencil, but you can hopefully see the layering somehow.
I hope this helped you a little. I'll look forward to see more watercoloring from you!

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
This news article features five deviants who took part in Comment Month through commenting on the deviations that were submitted.
Please give your time to this article and to write constructive comments so that you make a true difference to the artists featured here. Although not all may be underappreciated, their efforts deserve to be recognised and celebrated.
